UCLA Arts Creating Community
IdentityEditorial 2024

For this project, I was tasked with creative direction and production of collateral for the Creating Community 2024 event, including promotional/invitation assets and a staple-bound informational zine to be distributed to new and current students. This would be the first introduction to UCLA Arts for many students, and as such, I aimed to generate excitement and a sense of community through the revised visual language.

After gathereing references and pitching three distinct directions, I worked to consolidate my ideas. Drawing upon the established arts identity, I unified the colon logo to create a ven diagram, symbolizing the diverse individuals and ideas that come together in the UCLA Arts program. In a movement away from years past I incorporated a secondary color, allowing for a clear typographic hierarchy within the minimal font selection.

For each design review, I came prepared to pitch my new ideas, address concerns with prior designs, and suggest changes to the structure of the deliverables. Through these conversations, I was able to polish the established deliverables, and concluded the project with a poster, an informational booklet with a calendar dust jacket, a digital poster and email invitation graphics, and two t-shirt designs for live screen-printing at the event.
